Beer in the Netherlands
Discover the beers of the Netherlands
Dutch beer culture
The Netherlands combines a long brewing tradition with a diverse modern craft beer scene. Alongside internationally recognised pale lagers, Dutch breweries produce a wide range of ales, wheat beers, IPAs, stouts and experimental styles.
From familiar favourites to unexpected discoveries, explore independently awarded beers across beer families, discover breweries worth knowing, and use Beer Match to find styles that may suit your taste.
Visiting the country, looking for interesting beers to import, or simply curious? Let GlobalBeerIndex guide you through the Dutch beer scene. Medals come from independent competitions; your taste decides what you enjoy.
This page reflects GBI's available brewery and competition records. It is not a complete inventory of this country's beer culture, beers or breweries.
Discover Award-Winning Beers
A weekly selection of up to one beer per family, including Gold, Silver and Bronze winners. An invitation to discover, rather than a ranking of the best beers.
Add beers to compare them in My selection below.
Compare beers by flavour
Compare beers by bitterness, sweetness and acidity. Sensory values are estimated from typical beer-style profiles unless beer-specific data is available. The scale runs from 0 (absent) to 4 (very pronounced).

Registered beers include inactive beers. Country Match excludes explicitly inactive beers but includes unknown status. Awards may be historical; year and competition filters affect only award and medal totals.
